This video was so motivating. Trying to find career paths that bridge the gap of art and engineering can be a bit challenging if you haven't had that exposure to those fields
Brittany G So great to hear! I also completely agree, which is why we are working on more episodes like this. The intersect of art & engineering is fascinating! Thanks for tuning in.
Vivian Lee Hey, so glad to hear the episode can help out with the fam! If you are studying this keep going! I found this field of study absolutely amazing.
A word of advice from an artist with an engineering degree: it can be very demoralizing if you aspire to work as both a designer and an engineer, because, as this video effectively shows, just about every company out there wants to pigeonhole you into being one or the other.
I would like to Know a bit more about this aspect as I am planning to start a bachelors degree in industrial design. Yet I hear a lot about people saying it would be smarter to do an engineering degree as this is something you can not teach yourself as easily. I consider myself as artistic and innovative. I like to bring opisites together. I live in Germany and I am 39 years old. Any advice on this? What would be smarter funancially?
I clicked on this video out of curiosity, just to see what the industrial design career was all about.......but Jordan made me forget why I clicked on this video. So I had to watch it again. =D
The Musicians wow, that’s cool! Honestly, if someone would have told me about this in college, I probably would’ve gone this direction also. Super fascinating mix of creativity and engineering. Thanks for the feedback, and best of luck!
We industrial designer not only focuses on looks but also user experience and usability. We sometimes also have been taught business. Its quite interesting but hardworking field. I am National Institute of Design, India
Hi thanks for video. Can you tell , which softwares were used by Delta as well by you to Design 3D product and render. Thanks Do keeping making such design inspired videos.
Super appreciate the feedback! From what I understand she used a mix Autodesk and Adobe products in the sketch phase. I'm connecting with her today, so I'll let you know what she says. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Can you make video for a sample products that are created after approval of Product designer. How that samples are made what raw material is used & how its designs get final look . In other words the full process of industrial product design.
Am I getting something wrong here? Why are we isolating the term design and using it only for the appearance/outer look? Mechanical components and pieces also have a design. I think engineers are designers as well.
I could NOT agree with you more! I'm actually writing several grants right now to go film tons of STEM episodes, and many of them are focusing on engineers. I"m currently working with Andretti racing, which will focus on mechanical engineers and mechanics. Can't wait!
EmiiR Excellent question! The answer really is both. Typically the designers start with an idea/inspiration, and then have to immediately meet with engineers who then mix science and physics in. This typically means they now work in tandem redesigning to meet the goal of both form and function. STEAM education ideas in real life. Love it!
Artrageous with Nate well I really like to design things. And I am also always thinking like 'why didn't the manufacture make it this way it would be a lot easier'.. and I my self are now studying mechanical engineering, but really considering to maybe switch to industrial design. do you maybe know the difference between these two? thank you
Question how did you make your art work into a real life kitchen item..if i make a art work like a car art how do i make my car art real so people can use it ..??
I have a question I designed a faucet and Shower head I'm trying to bring it to life with putting it on the screen with water coming out what is the best way of going about it?
JMo Design Wow, this sounds pretty amazing! Honestly, I'm sure there are some more simplistic animation apps out there, but I personally would use Adobe After Effects. It's what we often use to animate!
Hi, Beryl, and I feel the same way! I had NO idea careers like this even existed. Yes, you can major in this. She simply has an industrial design degree, which I never (until now) understood to involve art, creativity, etc. I say it's never too late, go for it! Thanks for the feedback and subscribing!
One question, the part where you drew on the tablet, is it like an application which has to be downloaded and if what device? I'm just curious, looks handy tho.
TimisaLilMonster haha! I see what you are saying, but assure you her comment was meant more to do with artistic colors than race. She is an amazing designer, and in fact, donates tons of time to inspiring youth in low income areas. 👍
Cari No, industrial engineering is totally different. You don’t design product in industrial engineering you only focus in planning managing and producing the product.
The design doesn't work because it attempts to meld a sharp-ish cuboid with a flowing arc. And the surface finishes are different between the body and the neck. The faucet has a minimalist aesthetic, but then it has a lump on the side (the real faucet handle). And touch-to-turn-on is the wrong UX paradigm for a device for which you need fine flow control. The head of the faucet is also misleading because it corresponds in no way to the narrow water jet.
So, I'm guessing you are also an industrial designer? I'm not too sure on the engineering, but my goal was to show how engineers and designers have to work together in the real world. If you are a designer, where do you work? Have any projects you could share? I'm always looking to create another episode like this, but updated. Thanks for watching, subscribing, and the feedback!
Thumper Hunts That was the exact same reaction I had when this idea came up. Now, I have a whole new respect for industrial design. Will never look at a faucet the same!
Hi! I extremely like your video tutorial. We are a 3D CAD software company looking for youtubers which could built content for us! If you want to know more please check:
I dont understand one thing, being in obligation of doing University to do nice little drawings that anyone with some little imagination could do...I want to be designer but school.. eww
hate this video choosen the wrong career I should have study MEchanical Engineer nod industrial design, just drawings and ideas WTF, Manufacture is the thing not a Draw

Brittany G So great to hear! I also completely agree, which is why we are working on more episodes like this. The intersect of art & engineering is fascinating! Thanks for tuning in.
this might come a bit surprising but did you manage to find a field that combines them both? I'm currently looking for the same thing!
So glad this video is made! Now I can show my friends and family who are still not quite sure about what my I'm studying in school.
Vivian Lee Hey, so glad to hear the episode can help out with the fam! If you are studying this keep going! I found this field of study absolutely amazing.
as an industrial designer. i agree with them.you have to look for the best tiny little details. perfect video inspiration for all designers.
ALLINDES Really appreciate this feedback, and glad you found it helpful!
A word of advice from an artist with an engineering degree: it can be very demoralizing if you aspire to work as both a designer and an engineer, because, as this video effectively shows, just about every company out there wants to pigeonhole you into being one or the other.
That is super unfortunate:/ I really feel it shouldn’t be this way. Thanks for watching the episode in for the feedback!
I would like to

Yo bro, how is life now ? After NID
Maybe you could give me some good advices to crack the exam
Or
Excell in the field of industrial design
impressive and inspiration video. thanks
So great to hear! Thanks for the feedback, and for watching and subscribing!
Yes I'm far from early. Briliant video, I'll see faucets differently, some at least.
I have three invention notebooks, with my new dream catcher invention.
Great content that you shared! Thanks!
Super appreciate the feedback!🙌

Really it is amazing !!
This is still one of my favorite episodes!! Thanks so much for the feedback!🙌👍
That instrumental at 0:45, though 😲
How many years does it take to get a degree in Industrial Design?

Is that for a bachelors or masters?
Bachelors 3, masters 2 more years Is what I did where I live
Chickenpotato Thanks for replying.

Can you tell what kind of tablet that you he use it?
The 3d software is solidworks
And rendering keyshot
SOOO COOOOLLLL!!!!!!
Kaitlyn Glad you liked it! One of my fav episodes we filmed last year!
I designed a sink faucet for one of my industrial design projects in school. It was super fun. And awesome video👍🏼😄
That's awesome!

who makes the cad model? the industrial designer or the engineers?
EmiiR Excellent question! The answer really is both. Typically the designers start with an idea/inspiration, and then have to immediately meet with engineers who then mix science and physics in. I'm an industrial designer we make model in rhino and it is further tested by engineers in sd
Question how did you make your art work into a real life kitchen item..if i make a art work like a car art how do i make my car art real so people can use it ..??
In my country de industrial designer makes the two things.
Great thank you so much
I wish I knew about this before choosing chemical engineering 😭🥺, is there a way to major in this
Hi, Beryl, and I feel the same way! I had NO idea careers like this even existed. Yes, you can major in this. Really Love it!
Great video! Love it!
Great video,
Can You tell How long does design protection last?
Awoesome video!!🙏😂😂
Aight time too design the irl iron man suit
One question, the part where you drew on the tablet, is it like an application which has to be downloaded and if what device? I'm just curious, looks handy tho.
***** ok thanks
Do you know what tech she is using at 1:37? For the tablet drawing
Not sure exactly what model, but it is a Wacom pen display, looks like it could be the Cintiq 27 QHD.
The software is Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and the device is a Wacom Cintiq.
Sketchbook Pro
What is the name of the tablet and pen are you using? I've been wanting something like that for a long time
Grace Gerber ; me too I have been waiting for this kind show
She's using a Wacom Cintiq 22HD. At the end he's using an iPad with an Apple Pencil.
I wonder if they've heard.of.the waterlesshoe? Hes a famous Twitch streamer
What app do u use in your tablet?
how to get the design job for fresher?
What kind of software was she using? 3:11
It looks like a Rendering software called Keyshot or just solidworks.
It's Solidworks
Solidworks purchased Bunkspeed (Renamed Visualize) - Keyshot is now built into Creo 4.0 (Formerly Pro/E)
2:49 i know my sense of humor is immature.
what is she using to draw her designs
Autodesk SketchBook , it has very Good tools for sketching
Anyone else notice she changed the faucet color to black and said "What would it look like in an urban environment?" 😳😳😳😳😳
TimisaLilMonster haha! I see what you are saying, but assure you her comment was meant more to do with artistic colors than race. She is an amazing designer, and in fact, donates tons of time to inspiring youth in low income areas. 👍
Artrageous with Nate I assume shed a wonderful woman and designer and it was just for laughs lol
Urban means a city. Stop projecting your insecurities onto someone. Thats not fair
Do you guys think this career of industrial engineering as a calling?
Cari No, industrial engineering is totally different. You don’t design product in industrial engineering you only focus in planning managing and producing the product.
Idk
Hanzhen harmonic drive gear , robot arm gear , over 30 years experience
Some one know what's the programs so she use one is for materials and the other is a program 3D...
For materials is probably Keyshot (a rendering software). For 3D modeling, Solidworks!
she is beautiful........😍

@@artrageousnate Deleting my replies? Seems a bit unnecessary.
Hi
thats why we have architecture and design schools ... nice colorful thing you got there hhh
a faucet?

eww
LeCoureurDesBois sketching is just the snowflake that landed on tip of the iceberg of being an industrial designer
LOL if you think that's all industrial design is. Maybe at a faucet company, but not at a larger design company.
*milk*
*kill me* I’m guessing you are referring to her inspiration from milk containers. Pretty crazy!
Hey! I just wanted to say you are so awesome and I wish you the most happiness :)) Believe in yourself!

Ugliest damn faucet I've ever seen
